Welcome to our website
Central Lancashire is a title that describes the administrative areas of Preston, South Ribble and Chorley Councils, and we are working together on the Core Strategy part of our Local Development Frameworks and collaborating on documents that will allocate sites for development and protect sites from development.
This website contains a wide range of information about the Local Development Framework process. Use the menu on the left to find out about us and our work.
Latest News and Events
Publication of the joint Core Strategy has been delayed whilst the Councils decide how to proceed in light of the Coalition Government's actions concerning changes to housing and planning powers including the abolition of the Regional Strategy. All three Councils remain committed to progressing their Local Development Frameworks and envisage only a short delay in advancing the Core Strategy. Work is also continuing on Site Allocations with the intention of consulting on issues and options in the autumn.

COMMUNITY SURVEY
This has now been carried out. Thank you to those who have taken part. The community survey was aimed at revealing suggestions for community uses of land. The responses received are available to view here. Some community survey responses have been treated as site suggestions and can be viewed here.
SITE SUGGESTIONS AND UPDATE ON LDF DOCUMENT PREPARATION
A 'call for sites' for suggested development sites was first started in June 2007 and suggestions have been accepted since then. The deadline for submitting sites has now passed. Submitted sites are being considered in respect to the site allocations work. To view the submitted site suggestions click here.
The Central Lancashire authorities have published a Strategic Housing Market Assessment, or "SHMA" which can be viewed by clicking here. The SHMA is a key piece of evidence to support the LDF Core Strategy and Site Allocations Development Plan Documents particularly in terms of affordable housing needs.
A follow on study has now been commissioned on the economic viability of achieving affordable housing through market residential developments.
A review is also underway on the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment "SHLAA" taking account of updated information on potential housing sites. It is important to note that the SHLAA work does not allocate specific sites for housing development. This is the job of the Site Allocations DPD.
