Welcome to our website
Central Lancashire is a title that describes the administrative areas of Preston, South Ribble and Chorley Councils, and we are working together on the Core Strategy part of our Local Development Frameworks and collaborating on documents that will allocate sites for development and protect sites from development.
This website contains a wide range of information about the Local Development Framework process. Use the menu on the left to find out about us and our work.

WHAT'S NEXT?
In June 2010 the "Publication" version of the Core Strategy will be produced. This will be the near final edition that will be published to allow formal representations to be made within a 6 week period. The Strategy, along with the representations, will then be submitted to government for examination by a Planning Inspector.
In September 2010 the first draft of Site Allocations documents will be published for consultation by each of the District Councils. The documents will show possible sites for development, protection from change and where other controlling policies could apply.

COMMUNITY SURVEY
This has now been carried out. Thank you to those who have taken part. The community survey was aimed at revealing suggestions for community uses of land. The responses received are available to view here. Some community survey responses have been treated as site suggestions and can be viewed here.
SITE SUGGESTIONS AND UPDATE ON LDF DOCUMENT PREPARATION
A 'call for sites' for suggested development sites was first started in June 2007 and suggestions have been accepted since then. The deadline for submitting sites has now passed. Submitted sites are being considered in respect to the site allocations work. To view the submitted site suggestions click here.
The next meeting of the Central Lancashire LDF Joint Advisory Committee will take place on Thursday 18th March at South Ribble Borough Council. Any changes to this schedule will be posted on the website. Reports presented to and minutes of all Joint Advisory Committee meetings held so far can be viewed by clicking here.
The Central Lancashire authorities have published a Strategic Housing Market Assessment, or "SHMA" which can be viewed by clicking here. The SHMA is a key piece of evidence to support the LDF Core Strategy and Site Allocations Development Plan Documents particularly in terms of affordable housing needs.
A follow on study has now been commissioned on the economic viability of achieving affordable housing through market residential developments.
A review is also underway on the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment "SHLAA" taking account of updated information on potential housing sites. It is important to note that the SHLAA work does not allocate specific sites for housing development. This is the job of the Site Allocations DPD.
