Welcome to our website


Central Lancashire is a title that describes the administrative areas of Preston, South Ribble and Chorley Councils, and we are working together on the Core Strategy part of our Local Development Frameworks and collaborating on documents that will allocate sites for development and protect sites from development.

- Community Infrastructure Levy Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule Consultation

Community Infrastructure Levy

The Central Lancashire authorities are working on considering what levy rates should be charged on new built developments as a way of securing funds for infrastructure provision. The first consultation stage will be on Preliminary Draft Charging Schedules. The consultation will start on 31 January. Please see the Community Infrastructure Levy page to view the documents and information on how to make comments.

Core Strategy Housing Related Changes

The cosultation period for the proposed Housing Related Changes has now ended. The representations received can be viewed here and in person at the main offices of the District Councils during normal opening hours from Wednesday 18 January.

The hearing sessions for the Independent Examination will formally resume on Tuesday 6 March 2012 at 9.30am.

The venue will be the:

Joint Advisory Committee


The next JAC meeting is due to take place on Monday 30 January at Leyland Civic Centre. The meeting agenda can be viewed here.

The previous JAC meeting took place on Tuesday 8 November at Preston Town Hall. To view the agenda and meeting minutes, click here.

WHAT'S NEXT?


Core Strategy Next Stages

Following completion of the Examination the Inspector will send his report to the Councils, including any recommendations to amend the Core Strategy before it is adopted. It is envisaged that the Inspector's Report will be received in April and the Core Strategy adopted in July 2012. 

Supplementary Planning Documents

Five draft guidance documents are being prepared for consultation. Please check this website for news of this consultation starting. The topics to be covered are:

  • Design
  • The Re-Use of Employment Premises
  • Rural Development
  • Access to Healthy Food
