Local Development Framework : Core Strategy Issues and Options

PLANNING BACKGROUND

Chorley, Preston and South Ribble councils each need to actively involve their communities in preparing new planning policies to guide development up to 2021.

The new planning policies will be contained in Local Development Frameworks (LDFs) that will replace the current Chorley, Preston and South Ribble Local Plans.

Our big planning issues will be included in the LDF Core Strategy. Once approved, this will set the direction for all of our other planning policies.

When we prepare our Core Strategy we need to take account of national, regional, sub regional and local policies. All of these can be seen in full via the links page.

Our timescales for producing the Core Strategy and the other LDF documents are set in our Local Development Schemes (LDS). You can read these in full via our links page.

NEXT STAGES

We want to hear what you think to the big planning issues in our draft Core Strategy. Do our suggested issues and options make sense? Have we missed anything out?

We think that it will take about three years (from the beginning of 2007 to the end of 2009) to finalise the Core Strategy.

We want to involve as many people as possible in thinking about the issues and we shall hold a series of consultation events to listen to your views throughout that period.
